Rhyl Pavilion to reopen this November

Rhyl Pavilion

A date has been set for Rhyl Pavilion to reopen its doors after a period of closure due to a burst water tank.

The iconic theatre in Rhyl suffered significant damage back in July, when many areas of the building were flooded.  Despite an extensive drying out period and a full schedule of remedial works, Denbighshire Leisure Ltd has pulled out all the stops to get things up and running once more.

The Theatre will reopen officially at the end of next month, when comedian Jason Manford brings his Like Me tour to Rhyl on Saturday 27th November .

The buildings works are scheduled to continue right up until the weekend of 27th November, with Jason Manford being the first show to take place.  This will be closely followed the arrival of panto season, and Christmas sparkle will be in the air from 8th December when the Pavilion’s stunningly magical performance of Cinderella takes to the stage!

The work to reinstate the theatre will be completed in two phases with phase one fully refurbishing the ground floor areas, including all the ground floor bars, box office and mall, to ensure customers can access the auditorium for the up and coming shows and this year’s pantomime. The second phase will reinstate the upper floors and refurbish 1891 restaurant after the extensive water damage.

Jamie Groves, Managing Director of Denbighshire Leisure Ltd said “After what has been a tough year to say the least, we’re thrilled to be reopening the theatre for the Jason Manford performance and also bringing Panto back to the Rhyl Pavilion Theatre. It is fantastic to see performers back doing what they do best after such a challenging time, and we can’t wait to welcome schools and families back through the auditorium doors and to experience the Pavilion Theatre’s electric atmosphere again.

“Work is also progressing on a programme to reinstate our flag ship restaurant 1891. Works to this area are quite extensive and whilst we have been working around the clock with insurance companies and specialist surveyors, it will unfortunately take a little more time to complete the restaurant refurbishment, but we have no doubt the new restaurant will be spectacular when finished and we can’t wait to showcase our plans within the next few weeks”
