Sony UK TEC Supports City Hospice Forever Flowers Campaign

Flower display at Cardiff Castle

Pencoed based Sony UK TEC are joining members of the public in remembering and celebrating the lives of family members, friends, and loved ones who have been tragically lost over the last 18 months by supporting the City Hospice Forever Flowers campaign.

As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent restrictions, many people who have lost someone close to them have not been able to grieve in the normal way. In response, City Hospice is offering members of the public the opportunity to come together and remember cherished family members and loved ones by purchasing limited-edition enamelled metal flowers, designed by the British Ironwork Centre, that will be part of a display at Cardiff Castle from July 24th to August 8th.

The event is intended to provide an opportunity for everyone, not just those who were cared for by City Hospice, to talk about their grief, reflect, and remember a loved one and celebrate their life with a lasting tribute.

As a community-conscious business and as part of their commitment to supporting the work of charities close to the hearts of their staff, Sony UK TEC will pay their respects to those lost by purchasing four flowers. The manufacturing giant symbolically chose the number 4 to reflect their Japanese roots, with the number 4, or Shi 四 in Japanese, associating with grief.

UK TEC’s Director of Professional Services, Gerald Kelly, said: “We are extremely proud to be able to support such a fantastic initiative. The past 18 months have been difficult for everyone. So many people have lost loved ones in such difficult circumstances, and due to the pandemic, they haven’t been able to grieve properly or remember those they have lost in the way they would have wished to.

“The Forever Flowers display at Cardiff Castle is going to be a beautiful tribute to those we have lost, and we hope that it brings some light to those who have been struggling with the passing of a loved one during this difficult time.”

City Hospice Corporate Partnerships Manager, Nicky Piper, said: “We are extremely grateful to Sony for purchasing Forever Flowers. This campaign is very important to City Hospice as it provides a special way for members of the community to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones. We’re delighted at the success of the campaign, and we can’t wait to see the display at Cardiff Castle from July 24thto August 8th.”
