A major road resurfacing and repair programme is making strong progress across Swansea, with several schemes already completed and more set to get underway in the coming weeks.
Swansea Council says its resurfacing blitz, which began in January, has been boosted by an additional £300,000 investment. The extra funding has allowed more teams to be brought in to speed up repairs and increase the number of projects delivered.
Recent works have included full resurfacing at the busy Peniel Green Road M4 roundabout, along with junction improvements at Frampton Road and Carmarthen Road.
In the next couple of weeks, further road improvement schemes are planned at:
- Ynyspenllwch Road, Clydach from Ffordd Cwmtawe to Clydach
- Lone Road, Clydach
- Llanllienwen Road, Morriston
- A48, Morriston from J46 to the entrance to Bryntywod
- Carmarthen Road, Fforestfach from Ffordd Cynore to Swansea Road
- Nantong Way, Llansamlet outside Royal Mail
- Rheidol Avenue, Clase
- Bishopston Road, Bishopston
- Maes y Gwernen Road and Drive, Cwmrhydyceirw
- Uplands Crescent
The council has confirmed that in the coming weeks, resurfacing teams will also move into other parts of Swansea to tackle additional locations highlighted by residents.
Andrew Stevens, Cabinet Member for Environment and Infrastructure said: “We are using all of our resources to tackle as many of the highway repair requests as possible.
“Full resurfacing work is being completed at key traffic spots including the motorway junction at Peniel Green Road.
“Our Small Resurfacing Teams are also out tackling large areas of road that have been impacted by the recent cold and wet weather.”
