Veezu driver-partners across all hubs have announced a 20% discount on fares for all frontline NHS staff, on the production of valid NHS identification.

A2B in Solihull and Birmingham, Amber Cars in Leeds and Bradford, Dragon Taxis Cardiff and Bridgend, Go Carz in Shropshire and the West Midlands, plus V Cars in Bristol, Bath, Chippenham and Swindon are all honouring the offer in a show of solidarity for key workers during these testing times. Dragon Taxis Newport & Torfaen is offering a £1.50 discount off its standard fix fares in lieu of the 20% discount. Many of the discount schemes incorporate discounts for care workers too.

CEO, Nathan Bowles, is also engaging regularly with Government ministers, council leaders, NHS boards etc to support with the mobilisation of people and essential supplies via Veezu’s technology infrastructure and its access to a 6,000-strong fleet of licensed private-hire drivers.

Mr Bowles and his national team are also liaising directly with social care providers, supermarkets, pet food suppliers, and restaurants to co-ordinate an efficient system to transport medicines and medical equipment, essential groceries or takeaway meals to those in need.

Many restaurants across Veezu’s service areas affected by requirements to encourage social distancing have switched to offering takeaway meals and Veezu driver-partners are keen to play their part in helping those businesses with delivery requirements or can also provide transport to collect meals for any customers who have self-isolated.

Nathan said: “Many people are naturally concerned at the moment and feeling helpless or at a loss as to what to do in response to this current disruption.

“At Veezu we understand how crucial it is to ease the pressure on the NHS at this time, and not only are we supporting the NHS directly, we are also offering our support to local social and health care providers.   With all the advanced technology systems we have available as well as our extensive fleet of vehicles, we are well placed to offer solutions to any type of road journey – however complex or simple it might be.

“It is good to be able to offer this support to the incredible NHS workforce working around the clock at the moment.”
