Cardiff Bay’s iconic Techniquest will be opening a pop-up shop in Mermaid Quay today (September 24th) as the hugely anticipated ‘Science Capital’ build continues.

Techniquest announced plans to build its new ‘Science Capital’ extension last year, expanding its exhibition space by over 60% and introducing over 50 new exhibits to Wales’ much-loved science landmark.

In order for the Science Capital construction to progress, vital work is needed inside the building, meaning Techniquest will be moving their shop to Mermaid Quay for September 2019.

    What to expect:

Sat opposite Fabulous Welshcakes, Techniquest will be setting up shop – literally – at Mermaid Quay from September onwards to ensure you don’t miss out on all the latest trends and awesome science gadgets to buy during its temporary closure on Stuart Street.

With a variety of stock up for grabs; including retro gaming goodies, ‘Bee’-autiful accessories and the perfect periodic table keepsakes, Techniquest are bringing the best-of-the-best to Mermaid Quay in terms of science gadgets, with products for all ages available.

Techniquest will re-open in October, but the shop will remain open on Mermaid Quay for a short period whilst essential work is being carried out on the new Techniquest building. Techniquest’s presence on Mermaid Quay guarantees visitors to find the perfect gift; whether it be for birthday presents, Christmas stocking fillers or even something for yourself!

Lesley Kirkpatrick, CEO of Techniquest commented: “We’re really excited to open a shop in Mermaid Quay this September. It’s really important to us that our customers are still able to enjoy Techniquest whilst we experience a brief closure to prepare for our hugely anticipated Science Capital.

“We’re really excited to show you what’s to come – but for now please enjoy our lovely shop at Mermaid Quay, where you’ll really find an exciting, unique science gift for everyone.”

If you’re heading to Cardiff Bay in the coming months, don’t forget to check out Techniquest’s shop at unit 19A, Mermaid Quay. Techniquest is expected to re-open to the public on 1st October 2019.
