Since it was founded in 1880, Manchester City has broken numerous records to be regarded as an elite club not just in England and Europe but worldwide. By 2002, Manchester City had won promotion to the Premier League by climbing from Division 1 and the Championship.

Its win percentage has improved while on the way to winning numerous accolades, and bettors have also cashed in on the team’s good run of form. It’s no wonder football betting sites UK often give the team high winning odds.

But is it all luck? Absolutely no. Manchester City has put in the effort, commitment and money to attain a top club status. In the club’s over 140 years of history, its most impressive records are:

    1. Blackburn Rovers, Leicester City, and Manchester City are the only teams crowned Premier League champions since 1992 that had previously been relegated to play in the Championship. Manchester City and Leicester City were also relegated to Division 1 between 1992 and 2013.
    2. In 2001, Manchester City won promotion from Division 1 to the Championship. Then in 2002, they won promotion to the Premier League, having been the team to score the most goals ever (108) while accumulating the most points (99) for a Championship side.
    3. In 1934, Manchester City’s home game Vs. Stoke City at Maine Road Stadium attracted an attendance of 84,569, a record for an English Premier League team that stood for 85 years until Feb 2018’s Tottenham Vs. Arsenal match at Wembley.
    4. Manchester City is the first team in the Premier League to win a domestic treble in the 2018/2019 season, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and Carabao Cup.
    5. In the 2017/2018 season, Manchester City scored the most points in a Premier League season, with 100 points as they won the league.
    6. Manchester City holds the record for most top-flight goals scored in a season when they managed 106 goals in the Premier League in the 2017/2018 season in which they were crowned champions.
    7. In the 2018/2019 season, Manchester City scored 169 goals in all competitions, including the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, and the Community Shield. No team in Europe’s top 6 leagues has achieved this feat.
    8. Manchester City has the most wins of 32 in the Premier League, managing it twice in the 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 seasons when they were crowned champions. It is a record also held by Liverpool in the 2019/2020 season when they became the new champions as Manchester City finished runners-up.
    9. Between 19th Dec 2020 to 14th May 2021, Manchester City registered the most away wins in a Premier League season, managing to get 12.
    10. In the 2020/2021 season, between 19th Dec 2020 to 2nd March 2021, Manchester City registered the most consecutive wins in all competitions, setting a new record with 21 overall.
    11. In the history of the Premier League, no team has had more consecutive league wins (18)—a record made between 26th Aug 2017 to 27th December 2017. Man City became the champions that season and is a joint record with Liverpool, who managed the same feat in the 2019/2020 season.
    12. The highest transfer fee paid by an English team to another English team was £100 million paid to Aston Villa on 5th Aug 2021 for midfielder Jack Grealish.
    13. Manchester City won by the most significant margin for an FA Cup final after beating Watford 6-0 in 2019 to become champions. They hold this record with Bury, who beat Derby County by the same margin in 1903.
    14. Between 2018 to 2021, Man City consecutively won the League Cup. They hold a joint record with Liverpool, who accomplished a similar feat from 1981 to 1984.
    15. In the 2018/2019 season, Manchester City recorded the most clean sheets in a single season, with 33 over 61 matches, and won a treble (Premier League, League Cup, and FA Cup).

With more investment in upcoming talent and boasting some of the highest-rated footballers on their roster, Manchester City will undoubtedly continue to break more records in the foreseeable future.
