Cymru’s amazing fans who make up the infamous “Y Wal Goch”, “The Red Wall” have so far raised an incredible £22,500 for Tenovus Cancer Care through the Football Association of Wales’ (FAW’s) “Red Wall Membership”.

The unique partnership between Tenovus Cancer Care and “The Red Wall/ Y Wal Goch” ensures that with each membership sold this year, £1 will go directly to Wales’ leading cancer charity.

The Red Wall Membership club pack, access to Cymru Home and Away tickets, product discounts, in addition to an exclusive “The Red Wall x Tenovus Cancer Care” supporters’ wristband.

Chief Executive of Tenovus Cancer Care, Judi Rhys said: “We are delighted at the continued support of the FAW and Y Wal Goch with the creation of a new Y Wal Goch wristband and £1 from every Cymru membership being donated to Tenovus Cancer Care.

“Being in this together, means we can help more people facing money worries following a cancer diagnosis. With support currently from 22,500 Y Wal Goch members, this will fund our Benefits Advice service for one whole month, allowing us to support families affected by cancer across Wales. That support is vital today.

“Cancer can affect someone’s ability to work, and higher energy bills are typical with the need to keep warm. Sadly, more people than ever are waiting longer to be treated, and more than a third of people referred to our benefits service are terminally ill. Families facing a cancer diagnosis in the cost-of- living crisis shouldn’t have to make the difficult choice between heating and eating as they face anuncertain future. Our friendly benefits advisors can help families access the financial support they are entitled to and process it. They can take the strain, giving people with cancer and their families more time to focus on what’s most important to them, including treatment, recovery, and spending quality time together.

“We wish the FAW, Cymru team and Y Wal Goch the best of luck for the forthcoming UEFA EURO 2024 campaign. Diolch yn fawr iawn!”

Cymru Men’s Manager, Rob Page said: “Our Red Wall are known for their amazing support for Cymru both on and off the pitch.

“The power of our fans cannot be underestimated, and I’m very proud to see that through becoming a member of The Red Wall, our Cymru fans are raising such vital funds to support Tenovus’ work with cancer patients and their families across Wales.”

FA Wales Fan Engagement Executive, Macsen Jones added: “Charity bucket collections are present at our Cymru Men’s international matches and the generosity of our Cymru fans in supporting these is always incredibly appreciated by the FAW and the nominated charity.

“It is fantastic to now see how this can develop through the power of our supporters and the community that is The Red Wall with the funds raised for Tenovus Cancer Care directly through our for Adults, Juniors and Clubs/Schools offers a range of exclusive benefits membership. I’m excited to see how much more we can raise together to support Tenovus’ vital work as our Red Wall membership continues to grow throughout the year.”
