Following over 160,000 votes being cast, Deliveroo reveals winners of its 2025 Restaurant Awards, which celebrate the best and most loved restaurants across the UK and Ireland.

In Cardiff, one restaurant has risen above fierce competition spanning across five regions, as passionate food enthusiasts cast their votes to support their favourite neighbourhood eateries.

The full list of winners of the Deliveroo Restaurant Awards 2025 in Cardiff,  South England & Wales, includes:

    • Albany Fish Bar – Cardiff – Best Fish & Chips – South England & Wales
      • This independent, award-winning fish and chip shop in Cardiff has been an institution since 1967. This is the second time that Albany Fish Bar’s loyal customers have voted has them to win Deliveroo’s Best Fish and Chips accolade in the South.
    • Oowee Diner,  Independent Restaurant of the Year, South England and Wales 2025
      • Launching in 2016, Oowee is an American-style burger joint serving ‘deliciously dirty’ burgers. Their mission is to revolutionise fast food loved by vegans and non-vegans alike. Oowee have been serving locals via Deliveroo for over nine years, winning Deliveroo’s Independent Restaurant of the Year title in 2019, and Best Burger in South England and Wales in 2024.

This year saw a total of 65 awards up for grabs, including the most prestigious, Independent Restaurant of the Year award, new categories for 2025, including ‘Luke Littler x Deliveroo Best Kebab Award’, which was brought back by the darts champion after a three-year hiatus. As well as the Rising Star Award, judged by chef and daughter of Michelin star royalty, Tilly Ramsay, with CEO & Co-Founder of Deliveroo, Will Shu, and an expert panel.

Over 160,000 votes were cast by loyal Deliveroo fans over three weeks to crown no less than 50 regional cuisine-led winners from Best Fish & Chips and beyond. Votes were cast across five regions in the UK and Ireland (London, South England & Wales, North England & East Midlands, Scotland and Ireland) by food lovers keen to show their support for their favourite local restaurants.

The Team at Albany Fish Bar, said: “Wow, we’ve won! It’s incredible to be named Deliveroo’s Best Fish & Chips in South England & Wales for the second year running. Huge thanks to everyone who voted – your support means everything. We’re looking forward to serving up our award-winning fish & chips to Cardiff locals for a long time to come.”

The Luke Littler x Deliveroo Kebab Award, fronted by the UK darts champion himself, which saw a shortlist of ten Littler-approved restaurants go head to head in a public vote to crown the nation’s best kebab spot, Sqew Shawarma Bar from Leeds has won the title after securing backing from local kebab fans in just two weeks.

Deliveroo’s Independent Restaurant of the Year 2025 has been won by ‘next level sandwich’ restaurant, CRUNCH, from London, after the five regional finalists, including Oowee Diner (South England and Wales region), battled it out at a cook-off held at Deliveroo Editions in London. It was judged by Deliveroo’s CEO and founder, Will Shu; returning judge, food critic and journalist Jimi Famurewa; and the awards’ youngest ever judge, TV Chef and personality, Tilly Ramsay.

Competing finalists had 45 minutes to cook their most popular Deliveroo main dish to the panels’ discerning taste buds. Each restaurant was assessed against criteria including brand personality, food quality and value, packaging and presentation, customer reviews and loyalty, innovation, and going the extra mile.

CRUNCH’s most popular Deliveroo dish, the “Patty Melt”, dazzled judges with its “next level” flavours featuring truffle beef, red Leicester, and black truffle mayonnaise on golden brioche. The panel also noted the glowing 5* reviews from customers and its growing cult following. Most notably, the judges commended the owners of CRUNCH for creating a new era of game-changing sandwiches and their fearless approach to cooking.

Jimi Famurewa, food critic and Deliveroo restaurant awards judge, said: “It’s an honour to be a returning judge for Deliveroo’s UK & Ireland restaurant awards, and I was blown away by the passion and talent on display at the Independent Restaurant of the Year cook-off. Each finalist brought something unique and delicious to the table, making the final decision incredibly tough for us. However, CRUNCH from London stood out amongst the fierce competition, showcasing immense creativity, fine dining-level technique and mindblowing flavour that impressed us all.”

Tilly Ramsay also judged a brand new category for 2025, the Rising Star award, alongside Deliveroo’s CEO and founder, Will Shu, and Dame Karen Jones DME, which aims to celebrate an individual in the early stages of their industry journey, showcasing remarkable talent, ambition, and excellence.

First launched in 2019, the Deliveroo Restaurant Awards were created to celebrate the best local restaurants and takeaways available on Deliveroo across the UK and Ireland.
