Just under 2,000 people visited Risca Town Centre over the weekend, with nearly 1,500 joining in the fun at this year’s Risca Beach Party, held in Tredegar Park on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June.

Despite heavy rain on Saturday and a chilly breeze throughout the weekend, the event remained a popular draw for the local community.

The giant urban beach was once again the star of the show, with many wrapping up warm and pitching up for the day. Free attractions included donkey rides, exotic animals, craft workshops and more.

The park was buzzing with stalls offering hot food, drinks, crafts and community info. Local businesses welcomed the boost in footfall, with the event helping to raise the profile of Risca and its high street.

Cllr Jamie Pritchard, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member fir Prosperity, Regeneration and Climate Change, said:

“It’s fantastic to see events like this bringing people into our town centres and supporting local businesses. The community really got behind the Risca Beach Party again this year, and we’re proud to keep delivering fun, family focused events that help our high streets thrive.”

Sgt Liam Brown from Gwent Police added:

“It was a great turn out at the annual event, and a great opportunity for myself and the neighbourhood team to speak to residents, traders and visitors, and share some of the work we’re doing to keep Risca and the wider community safe.”

The next big event is the Blackwood Beach Party on Saturday 28th June, featuring a giant beach, funfair, food, crafts and free family fun.
