Get ready to take the plunge Lido-lovers! The main summer season starts this month in time for the Easter holidays!
All three pools of the National Lido of Wales, Lido Ponty, will be open every day of the two week-long holidays.
The water temperature will be turned back up to 28 degrees and the pools will be open for lane and casual swimming, splash pool with fountain, inflatable obstacle course, water zorb and paddle boats.
As the cold water swim sessions, which continue to be exceptionally successful, draw to an end, Lido Ponty begins its main season on Saturday, March 23 – the first weekend of the Easter school holidays.
There will be two early morning swims every day of the week, followed by six family fun sessions, where all three pools are open and the inflatable obstacle course, water zorb and paddle boats will be out.
From Monday, April 8, the timetable returns to two early morning swims every day of the week and six family fun sessions on weekends only.
This timetable continues until the Whitsun half term (May 27-31), when it is back to two early morning swims and six family fun sessions a day.
From Monday, June 3, two additional after-school fun sessions will be added, as the weather warms up and the nights get even lighter.
Customers are reminded that the National Eisteddfod takes place in Ynysangharad War Memorial Park from August 3-10, 2024. As a result of this, Lido Ponty, along with the rest of the park, will be closed from July 30 to August 14, to allow for event set up and take down.

The first phase of tickets (March 23 – April 30) will go on sale at 9am on Wednesday, March 13. You can get yours at www.lidoponty.co.uk
Customers will also notice a 25p booking fee has been added to ticket prices for all swimmers, including children, to help cover costs of third party booking fees the council has to pay which apply on all tickets even those we don’t charge for.
It is also hoped the booking fee, paid at the time of purchase, will also encourage swimmers who have booked sessions – especially for those aged 16 and under who, currently, don’t pay anything – to arrive for their time slot or cancel it in good time to allow someone else to take the space.
Cllr Ann Crimmings, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Leisure, said: “You know summer days are on their way when Lido Ponty’s main season begins.
“We have had a fantastic Autumn and Winter at the National Lido of Wales, with thousands of people joining us for the cold water swims.
“These have proved really popular, with swimmers coming from all across South Wales to enjoy the cold water dips and beautiful Ynysangharad War Memorial Park.
“Now the main season gets underway and this timetable will see us right through to the middle of September.
“Obviously the park is hosting the Eisteddfod from August 3-10, so Lido Ponty will be closed between July 30 and August 14, but there will be plenty of time for people to enjoy this award-winning and unique attraction over the coming months.”
