    Transport for Wales Raises Over £1,000 for Seren Dwt in Charity Challenge

    Colleagues from across Transport for Wales (TfW) have pedalled their way to success, raising over £1,000 in a static bike challenge supporting Seren Dwt, their 2025 charity of the year.

    The team collectively cycled more than 220 miles, the equivalent distance from Chester to Cardiff – during events held on 3 June in Cardiff and 5 June in Chester —exceeding their original 198-mile target. The challenge brought out fierce but friendly competition, with colleagues riding solo or in teams, donning superhero costumes, and embracing every opportunity to clock up extra miles.

    Seren Dwt is a small, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting families across Wales who have a child born with an extra 21st chromosome (Trisomy 21, or Down syndrome). From “welcome baby” boxes delivered across Welsh health boards to funding vital speech and language resources, Seren Dwt’s work helps families feel connected and empowered from day one.

    Laura Thomas of Seren Dwt said: “Thank you so much to TfW for their support this year. Every donation helps us to reach more families and ensure that every family that has a child born with Down syndrome in Wales is met with positivity and support.”

    This fundraiser is just the beginning. The static bike event was part of a wider offering planned to support Seren Dwt throughout the year. TfW colleagues will continue to engage in various fundraising activities, including the upcoming launch of a specially liveried Mark 4 carriage in the coming months, designed to raise awareness of Seren Dwt’s mission across the rail network.

    TfW Chief Executive Officer James Price added: “We’re thrilled to partner with Seren Dwt. This collaboration presents a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness and support a cause that makes a meaningful difference to families and communities across Wales.”
