Merthyr Tydfil residents are being encouraged to have a go at canoeing on Cyfarthfa Park Lake.

Activities organised by Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council’s Venture Out programme have helped many local people improve their wellbeing and confidence, with canoeing proving among the most popular things to do.

On Tuesday 29 May, there will be seven canoes – and three instructors – available on the lake from 10am-4pm at a cost of just £3 per person per 15-minute session.

The Venture Out programme provides a range of other activities such as archery, walking, climbing and cycling.

“We’ve run canoeing sessions in the past during Adult Learning Week and the annual Global Village Festival,” said Venture Out Coordinator Martyn Humphreys.  “They were very successful and feedback has shown this is something the public would like to see on a regular basis.”

Any under 18-year-olds who would like to take part must have parental/guardian consent.
