Wales announce men’s side to face Albania

Cymru’s senior Men’s National Team will face Albania for a final send off match ahead of EURO 2020 at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday 5 June, kicking off at 5pm.

This will be Cymru’s final preparation match for the 23-player EURO squad before travelling to Baku for the opening EURO 2020 match against Switzerland.

Cymru last faced Albania in 2018, where Chris Gunter became the most capped senior men’s player in our nation’s history. The match in Elbasan ended in a 1-0 victory for the home side and the Cymru squad will be looking to make amends in this reverse fixture, hopefully kicking off a winning run that will carry into this summer’s finals tournament. In keeping with current Government guidelines, this fixture is scheduled to be played behind-closed-doors.

Cymru will first return to action in the spring, starting with the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying campaign against Belgium on Wednesday 24 March. The squad will then return to Cardiff to face Mexico in a friendly before facing the Czech Republic at home in the third match of the week on Tuesday 30 March.

All fixtures are scheduled to be played behind-closed-doors for the foreseeable future. The FAW will continue to adhere to relevant Government guidelines and supporters will be notified should arrangements change and tickets become available.
