Bond Digital Health, which is based at the Life Sciences Hub Wales in Cardiff Bay, has appointed Russell Hicks as Head of Technology.

The company, a software consultancy that provides app and cloud technology to the life sciences sector, created the role after raising £140,000 in structural funding.

Mr Hicks has a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Cardiff University and was previously chief technology officer for Rantmedia, a BAFTA winning Cardiff-based mobile app development agency.

He has more than a decade of experience in web technology and mobile application development, with a special interest in Android app development.

At Bond Digital Health Mr Hicks will oversee all of the technological implications of the company’s various projects and ensure systems are in place to pass regulatory requirements.

Mr Hicks said: “I am excited to be joining such an ambitious and fast-growing company that is really making a name for itself in the med tech sector. Bond’s innovative app and cloud technology has applications across multiple sectors including human health, animal health and agri-food, and I’m excited to work in the healthcare space and develop products that make the world a better place.”

Dave Taylor, COO of Bond Digital Health, said: “We are delighted to welcome Russell to Bond Digital Health. With over a decade of experience in web technology and mobile application development, his knowledge and skills will be invaluable to the business. We look forward to continuing to expand our team of great people to meet client needs while we prepare for another investment round later this year.”
