Welsh lodge retreat sees surge in interest following multi-million pound redevelopment

A PICTURESQUE luxury lodge retreat has experienced a surge in interest from prospective holiday homeowners across the country.

One year after opening – following a multi-million-pound redevelopment – permanent and rental space at Darwin Escapes’ 40-acre Plas Isaf Lodge Retreat is in demand.

The Talacre-based firm, which employs more than 900 staff and owns 26 resorts in the UK and Isle of Wight, has made significant investment at the popular site, based just outside Caerwys, Flintshire.

As well as new access roads, high-end lodges, drainage, landscaping, and infrastructure, the company was firmly focused on conservation and preservation of existing wildlife, notably bats and badger colonies.

With 17 lodges for sale and prices ranging from £60,000 to upwards of £200,000 – and 40 rental units, some with hot tubs – Group Head of Sales Shaun Roberts says Plas Isaf is already one of the jewels in the crown of Darwin Escapes.

And as the sector recovers from a period of turbulence, he believes the future is looking bright.

“As a company, sales are up in comparison to last year and momentum is building, so we have taken a lot of encouragement from that,” said Shaun.

“That’s certainly the case in North Wales and at Plas Isaf, where we have had a lot of positive feedback and interest from prospective buyers in different areas of the UK, especially the North West and Midlands.

“The location in particular is so attractive, perfectly placed off the A55, with beautiful countryside, local attractions and things to do, so we expect that interest to be converted into sales in the months ahead.”

With more than 25 years’ experience in the tourism and hospitality industry, Shaun – who hails from Rhyl – says the site is unique and offers “something for everyone”.

Energy bills are free for the first season, and park owners and holidaymakers on ‘staycation’ will have free access to leisure facilities at nearby New Pines Holiday Home Park in Rhyl, which feature a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and gym.

“These luxury lodges are homely and spacious but also an escape, away from the daily grind and day-to-day life,” said Shaun.

“Plas Isaf is special as it was a complete renovation, it has been developed from the ground up while sympathetic to the environment, wildlife, and its natural surroundings.”

He added: “We are also keen to support independent food and drink producers locally – and we will be looking to do more in the years ahead – as part of the community and in support of the Flintshire economy.

“If anyone wants to find out more about Plas Isaf Lodge Retreat please get in touch. We are holding a holiday home exhibition over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, so we look forward to showing you around this incredible location.”
