The University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) has secured its place among the top 50 universities in the UK in the latest Guardian University Guide 2027, rising 26 places to achieve its highest-ever position of 47th out of 123 institutions.
The results highlight UWTSD’s strength in teaching quality, student support, and student outcomes, with the University ranked top in Wales for Satisfaction with Teaching, Satisfaction with Feedback, and Value Added.
UWTSD also achieved outstanding results across a range of subject areas, ranking first in Wales for seven subjects: Fashion and Textiles, Drama and Dance, Film Production and Photography, Fine Art, Product Design, Psychology and Music.
Nationally, UWTSD was ranked:
- 1st in Wales and 6th in the UK for Satisfaction with Teaching
- 1st in Wales and 4th in the UK for Satisfaction with Feedback
- 1st in Wales and 12th in the UK for Value Added
The University also recorded significant success at subject level, with seven subject areas ranked in the UK Top 10 and 10 subjects placed in the UK Top 20.
Among the standout performances were:
- 1st in the UK for Fashion and Textiles
- 1st in the UK for Drama and Dance
- 1st in the UK for Film Production and Photography for the second consecutive year
- 1st in Wales and 3rd in the UK for Fine Art
- 1st in Wales and 7th in the UK for Product Design
- 9th in the UK for Sports Science
- 9th in the UK for Animation and Games Design
- 1st In Wales and 19th in the UK for Psychology
- 1st in Wales and 20th in the UK for Music
The Guardian University Guide’s overall institutional ranking is based on a weighted assessment of subject-level performance. UWTSD’s strong performance across a broad range of disciplines demonstrates the quality and consistency of the student experience across the University.
