St John Ambulance Cymru has launched the Zip in to Spring Challenge, taking on the fastest seated Zip Line adventure in the world, and adrenaline junkies from across the county are being called on to take part  to ensure that Wales’s leading first aid charity can continue its mission to provide first aid to everyone, anytime, anywhere.

On Saturday, 25th March participants will gather at Phoenix Zip World Tower, based at the former Tower Colliery site in Aberdare. They’ll zip down Rhigos mountain at speeds up to 70mph. The route offers stunning views of the Cynon Valley, before racing in to the landing point high above the trees.

Hellen Yuan, from St John Ambulance Cymru’s Roath Park Division will be amongst them as part of Team Roath.

Hellen says, “The zip wire looked exhilarating, and people in the Division who had done similar things before said it was such great fun.

I’m so excited to try it, and even better, quite a few members of my Division have also signed up, so we are going to have an amazing day out together!

At the same time, I would love to raise some funds for our well-loved charity. It’s such a win-win!”

Alan Drury, St John Ambulance Cymru’s Community and Events Fundraising Manager, said,

“We are really excited about this adrenaline filled fundraising event, as it not only gives participants the opportunity to experience the thrill of the world’s fastest seated zip line, but it will also help us to raise vital funds towards our lifesaving first aid training and support in communities across Wales.”

“By taking part, not only will you and your friends or colleagues have a lot of fun, but your support really could also be the difference between a life lost or a life saved.”

Fundraisers who sign up as part of Team SJAC will be given the opportunity to take on the zip wire for just £25, which is a 50% discount on the standard price, in exchange for a pledge to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship.
