Serve up your own Hard Rock Café meal at home – review

Hard Rock @ Home - BBQ Bacon Cheeseburgers

Fans of Hard Rock Café can now serve up some of their favourite dishes at home including their signature BBQ Bacon Cheeseburgers.

Hard Rock Cafe has been flippin’ incredible burgers since it opened its doors in Old Park Lane, London in 1971. The brand is renowned for its string of restaurants, hotels, and casinos worldwide.

For those of you live in Cardiff, you may remember the restaurant on St Mary’s Street which closed in 2010 after six and a half years. Since its closure, to enjoy its great food you would have had to travel to London or even further. However, this is no longer the case as Hard Rock Café recently launched its ‘at home’ fresh boxes including famous Baby Back Ribs and BBQ Bacon Cheeseburgers.

As so many businesses have done over the last year, restaurants have had to get creative to reach their customers. When we first heard about these Hard Rock @ Home kits, we were a bit sceptical. We even thought that Hard Rock café were a little late to the game with the whole ‘dine at home’ phenomenon. What makes Hard Rock a little different is the fact that their restaurants are so few in the UK, you can’t easily visit. Other than to travel hundreds of miles, these kits offer the perfect alternative, and the best thing is that they deliver nationwide.

Over the last 12 months we have tried many ‘at home’ kits and restaurant deliveries including TGI Fridays and Honest Burgers among many others. We have enjoyed every experience, but they have always failed to re-create the same restaurant quality taste.

The Hard Rock @ Home kit arrived promptly and well packaged. It included multiple ice packs that kept the ingredients fresh and ready to use. They recommend that you cook and use the food within 48 hours of delivery.

The Hard Rock @Home (steak burgers) kit contained everything that you need, including full cooking instructions.

In the box for 2:

  • 2 x 7oz fresh steak burger patties
  • 4 Bacon strips
  • Hard Rock BBQ sauce
  • 4 Slices of Cheddar cheese
  • 2 burger buns
  • HRC Seasoning pack
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • French Fries

Everything was packaged and sealed individually, and arrived fresh.

What you will need:

  • A frying pan
  • Oven tray
  • Kitchen foil
  • A little butter (for toasting the buns)
  • Cooking utensils

All of this will enable you to re-create the Hard Rock Café BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger, which has been a firm fan favourite in its cafes worldwide; fresh and tender steak burger, seasoned and seared with a signature spice blend, topped with house-made barbecue sauce, cheddar cheese, applewood bacon, leaf lettuce and vine-ripened tomato.

The instructions and burger assembly guide are easy to follow, giving you a complete breakdown all of the necessary steps. The entire cooking experience took around 30-40 minutes, which is probably a little longer than what it should, but we wanted to get it right.

At first glance, the instructions look very long and may be off putting to some. However, we found with other kits that we have tried from other brands, if you want to re-create restaurant quality at home, they are worth persevering with. You can of course go off plan and cook them your own way, but where’s the fun in that?

The 7oz burger patties were incredibly juicy and full of flavour.

The bacon was crispy and full of flavour – it was worth following the cooking instructions to the letter.

What we enjoyed about the experience was the little finishing touches. The seasoning pack for example, just gave it that little something. It’s probably what gives them that restaurant magic.

We often talk about the main part of the meal, but the Hard Rock chips need a special mention. The french fries were lovely and they tasted great, and out of every meal that we’ve eaten over the last 12 months, it was most definitely the best ‘chip’ experience to date.

I have been asked by several people on Instagram, would we order this again? We absolutely would and I’d recommend this kit to anyone, especially the BBQ cheeseburgers that we tried. If you want a flavoursome burger, as close to restaurant quality as possible at home… you have to try this.

Available to order now, the Hard Rock @Home can be ordered from  www.plateaway.com/restaurants/hard-rock-cafe/Steak burger meal for 2 – £19.95; steak burger meal for 4 – £39.95.
