    Glamping launched at Merthyr Mawr

Forest Feastival will return for the month of June with a new glamping offer to add to its woodland food court on the Merthyr Mawr Estate. Street Food Circus will be adding to the festival feel with live music and pop-up performances and welcoming new food trucks to join the regulars on site.

Forest Feastival Glamping is a collection of luxury bell tents and mini bedouin-style tents near to the Forest Feastival street food site. Campers can spend their days exploring the Glamorgan heritage coastline and Merthyr Mawr’s famous sand dunes then eat from the best street food trucks from Wales and beyond.

To keep campers comfortable, all of the tents have metal frame beds, memory foam mattresses and 200 thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets – and every morning there will be a street food pop-up provided by cult breakfast truck Toast.

New traders are joining the roster of rotating Forest Feastival favourites for the June run with food on offer traders including Fork Society, Pwdin, Pasta a Mano, Fancy Fries, Bearded Taco, Hot Damn Wings, Bare Bones Pizza and Smoked Out BBQ.

Street Food Circus’ soft drink and mocktail bar BoBo will be providing the drinks with guests free to bring their own alcoholic drinks if they wish.

As with all events this year, safety has been central to the Street Food Circus setup. The event is in the open air, has plenty of space for social distancing, and offers table service and contactless ordering and payment.

Street Food Circus ringmaster Matt the Hat, explained:

“We’ve had a brilliant response to Forest Feastival through May and we couldn’t just stop there – this site is so special, out in nature among the trees and a stone’s throw from the sea.

“It’s been fantastic to give our street food heroes the chance to get back out doing what they do best, serving up amazing innovative food from around the world. And customers have loved it – so many have said they wanted to just stay all night!

“So, we’re thrilled to be adding the glamping site to the Feastival. You can look forward to a weekend of long walks by the sea, exploring the dunes and the woodland topped off with the best street food in Wales and the most luxurious night under canvas that you can imagine,” he said.

Forest Feastival will run every weekend through June, Friday – Sunday. Glamping bookings are available for three night stays – arrive Friday, depart Monday. Bookings via www.forestfeastival.com.

Tables need to be prebooked and include free parking. There’s no charge for children under 16.

    Prices are:

    • Table of 2 – £10
    • Table of 4 – £20
    • Table of 6 – £30

The Merthyr Mawr site is around 30 minutes drive from Cardiff and Swansea.

The Merthyr Mawr Warren National Nature Reserve is home to the highest dune in Wales, known as the Big Dipper. It is a haven for wildlife – sand has settled on top of the ancient limestone cliffs creating a special habitat for insects, fungi and plants – and there are also grasslands, saltmarsh, beach and woods within the reserve.
