This May, get ready to meat Cardiff’s latest culinary hotspot with the arrival of modern Argentinian steak restaurant Gaucho. A Welsh first, Gaucho is set to open a brand-new restaurant bringing its sensational carbon neutral steaks and Argentine allure to the heart of the bustling St David’s Dewi Sant shopping centre.

Located in the heart of Cardiff’s city centre, the new 8,500 sq ft site will sit across two storeys and accommodate 220 covers, with the option for exclusive hire of one floor for all those big birthday bashes and group get-togethers. For more intimate affairs, two beautiful and versatile private dining rooms are available for hire, plus a glamourous cocktail bar will be located at the centre of the restaurant, ideal for a pre-dinner drinks and date nights.

This anticipated new opening will also feature a Beer Bar showcasing an exceptional Argentine

beef tasting menu that treats guests to a true taste of South America. Guided by a chef, the Beef Bar is the place to deep dive into the dishes on the menu and enjoy a truly interactive dining experience.

On the à la carte menu from Executive Chef Mike Reid, expect Gaucho’s signature range of sustainable steaks, including the likes of delicately marbled ribeye; a tender yet succulent sirloin; a super lean fillet; or the speciality churrasco steaks with a garlic, parsley and olive oil marinade. To complement the steaks, there’s a range of vibrant and flavourful Argentinian dishes such as shrimp ceviche with picante rojo; empanadas filled with your choice of beef, sweet potato and provolone or chicken and chorizo; and a marinated pork matambre with Malbec jam.

Mike Reid, Executive Chef at Gaucho says: “I’m thrilled to be bringing Gaucho to Cardiff, our first restaurant in Wales. I’m excited to bring our signature sustainable steaks and a taste of Argentina to the Cardiff community and look forward to welcoming our first diners.”

Helen Morgan, Centre Director at St David’s, says: “Gaucho will be a brilliant addition to our strong restaurant mix at St David’s. We’re excited to sample its indulgent, South American-inspired menu, boasting some delicious locally-sourced ingredients, and know our visitors will be keen to book their visit – especially as it’s the first Gaucho to open in Wales.”
