Kidwelly-based family pet food company, Burns Pet Nutrition, is inviting local dog lovers and their four-legged friends to join them at its annual Dog’s Day Out event on Sunday, September 16.

Back by popular demand, the free to attend event, which is now in its 13th year, will return to Pembrey Country Park giving family, friends and their beloved pets the chance to enjoy a special day dedicated to man (and woman’s) best friend.

The event will include a range of dog-friendly activities for the whole family to enjoy, from doggy agility and have-a-go games, like ‘fastest recall, to canine-themed treasure hunts and a fun dog show, where proud owners can enter their prized pooches into a variety of classes including ‘Waggiest Tail’, ‘Best Trick’, ‘Dog Most Like their Owner’ and ‘Bad Hair Day’.

As well as fun for guests’ furry friends, there will be plenty on offer for humans too, with a whole host of food and craft stalls on site, displays from Black Adders and K9 Academy, as well as traditional fairground games such as buzzwire, hook-a-duck and coconut shy challenges.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to take home free pet food samples and chat to Burns’ expert team of professional nutritionists who will be on hand to offer advice and answer any questions regarding their pet’s diet.

With thousands of people and their dogs flocking to the site every year, Dogs’ Day Out has grown in popularity and is now one of the largest dog events in Wales.

Veterinary Surgeon and Burns founder, John Burns said, “Our Dogs’ Day Out event has continued to go from strength to strength. As a Kidwelly-based business, it’s fantastic to be able to give back to the local community and to have the chance to meet many of the pet owners who feed Burns to their beloved pets.”

As with all Burns-run events, the event is not-for-profit with proceeds going to charity. The funds raised will go towards the Burns Pet Nutrition foundation – a charitable trust which aims to make a difference to the lives of individuals and their pets.

Burns specialises in creating healthy pet food for dogs, cats and rabbits, with all recipes developed by the company’s founder and Veterinary Surgeon, John Burns.

The company is currently celebrating its 25th year of business and this month marked the milestone by announcing a record charity donation of £1m.

Dogs’ Day Out will take place between 10am – 4pm at Pembrey Country Park, Pembrey, Llanelli, SA16 0EJ. Admission is free.
