The Oldwalls Collection, owner of the iconic former hotel and restaurant Fairyhill in Gower, has announced plans to inject an additional £500,000 to further strengthen its offering as a leading wedding and events venue. This follows on from Oldwalls’ initial investment into the property of £1 million last November.

Following a 6-month closure, Fairyhill reopened on St David’s Day 2018 to unveil its stunning 21stcentury transformation, complete with a 184 square metre modern glass extension to the west wing of the house.

The first floor of the new extension was specially designed to host exclusive weddings and events while the ground floor was marked as bedrooms and set for development in 2019. As a result of Fairyhill’s rapid growth, the owners are now set to complete the ground floor refit on 1stNovember 2018.

Managing Director of the Oldwalls Collection, Andrew Hole, said:

“Acquiring such an iconic property to form part of our growing luxury wedding venue collection was a major step in terms of realising our growth plans. The launch of Fairyhill by Oldwalls has proven the demand for another high quality exclusive wedding venue in South Wales. With an increasing number of clients coming from across the UK as the trend for destination weddings continues to grow, there is a greater demand for bedrooms on the night of the wedding. We are confident this development will ensure we provide our clients with what they need.”

The K Room bedrooms are set for completion by 1stNovember 2018 which will increase Fairyhill’s offering to 18 bedrooms, plus its Coach House, allowing up to 44 residents per night. Guests can also book Oldwalls’ Rustic Retreat properties which are based off site and can cater to an additional 25 guests.

    Andrew continued:

“Since March we’ve welcomed over 10,000 wedding and event visitors, delivered over 45 weddings, and even hosted America’s former first lady and presidential candidate, Secretary Hillary Clinton, in June. Meanwhile our promo commercial, ‘Something Old, Something New’, released last week has already garnered over 40,000 views. Our aim is to positon Gower as a leading location for destination weddings in the UK.”

Oldwalls is recognised as one of Wales’ fastest growing companies and is the largest employer in Gower. The Oldwalls Collection is set to attract up to 45,000 visitors across their two Gower based wedding and special events venues in 2019, providing a vital boost to the local tourism and hospitality market. Fairyhill’s new direction has generated over 20 new job positions, from bar and catering to wedding coordinator roles. As a result, the Oldwalls Collection is now the largest employer in Gower. The team behind the Oldwalls Collection is also committed to using local suppliers to further inject funds into the surrounding community.

“We can’t thank everyone who has supported our Oldwalls journey over the past decade and Fairyhill’s exciting transformation enough. We are committed to continuing to deliver what we have become renowned for – first class weddings and events,” concluded Andrew.
