The Van Community Centre, operated by a volunteer committee, has been providing essential support to the local community and residents.

The Food-share and ‘Cwtch Café’ which run weekly out of the community centre, offers support to residents experiencing the effect of the current cost of living crisis.

Every Monday during term time, volunteers at Van Community Centre operate a food-share to help residents put food on the table at home and a free breakfast service for those in need. The Cwtch Café, open every Friday afternoon 2pm until 4pm, provides a free meal and dessert. The Café, a lifeline for some residents also provides entertainment on Friday’s from bingo to weekly quizzes.

Cllr Elaine Forehead, Chair of Van Community Centre said “I recognise the critical role that food-shares and community spaces play in supporting our residents. The food-share and cwtch café at Van Community Centre will continue to make a real difference to the many families and residents we support each week”.

The volunteers, who initially set up the Food-share and Cwtch Café for residents of Van, are happy to welcome anyone in need to attend.
