Helping hand for local business serving up home cooked meals

Local businesswomen Sara Ali saw an opening in Caerphilly Town Centre for quality homecooked style food. Securing ideal premises with picturesque views of the Castle she went about creating Sara’s Kitchen, which opened earlier this year on Castle Street.

Specialising in homecooked style dishes and delicious cakes the business is a welcome addition to Caerphilly’s high street. Sara has already built up a loyal base of customers who enjoy a visit to this friendly welcoming eatery.

Sara’s Kitchen has developed to not just be an eat in or takeaway, but the business now also delivers within the local area. Of demand is her famous Sunday roasts, now also available on Tuesdays and Fridays, offering fantastic roasts to enjoy within the lovely new refurbished premises, collected from the kitchen or delivered to your door.

Sara has many years of experience in cooking, customer service, and management as she has previously managed a shop, run a kitchen in a Caerphilly pub, as well as working in the family butchers’ shop and as a chef. The kitchen also offers all day breakfasts, home cooked meals, tea and coffee, and cakes all of which can be eaten inside or taken away.

Sara’s Kitchen received £5000.00 start up grant from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This grant was dedicated towards Sara’s Kitchen through Caerphilly County Borough Council’s intervention of UKSPF funds. The help has contributed to her being able to take on one fulltime and one part time member of staff and provided much needed funds in obtaining extra equipment needed and helping to cover the refurbishment of the Kitchen.

Sara commented “Starting a new business is very hectic and lots of things needed doing all at once. The grant was easy to apply for, with great support from Caerphilly Council’s business team. It’s helped me with all unplanned extra bits of equipment, so I can grow the business and produce great homemade food for our customers in Caerphilly.”

Cllr Jamie Pritchard, Cabinet Member for Prosperity, Regeneration and Climate Change commented dropped by to have a look and said “It was great to speak to Sara about her aims for the business and how the financial support from the Council has helped. A very welcoming environment and its clear her local customers value what she’s been able to achieve”.

Sara has now opened Tuesday to Saturday 9am-3pm and then Sunday 12pm-3pm.  Whether it’s an all-day breakfast, homecooked style dishes, or just a coffee and a cake, Sara’s Kitchen has you covered.
