A south Wales operator for Ffos Caerffili has been revealed by Caerphilly Council. Brigadoon Ffos Ltd, the team behind Corporation Yard (Canton, Cardiff), Tramshed, and Mountain Ash Town Hall, will bring their expertise to the highly anticipated new market development.

Following discussions with prospective traders, who are gearing up for the busy festive period, Brigadoon Ffos Ltd and the council have made a collective decision to open Ffos Caerffili in January 2024.

The site, which is due for completion in November will house a total of 28 traders, including food and beverage, goods and services providers, and versatile office and co-working spaces. The shipping containers will be in place for the end of October.

Grant Jones, Operations Director at Brigadoon Ffos Ltd, said,
“We are delighted to have been afforded the opportunity to work on, manage and develop this new and exciting project and be a part of the longer-term vision set out by Caerphilly 2035.

“We will bring our now over 30 years of experience and expertise in managing venues, projects, events, markets, and property to the table and look forward to working with local traders, customers, and communities to produce a varied and unique offering in the heart of such a beautiful and historic town.

“We are now talking to local businesses who are eager to join us in establishing a distinctive and modern site that will serve the community for many years to come. We welcome local businesses – whatever their needs – getting in touch with us at [email protected] to discuss their interest.”

Cllr Jamie Pritchard, Deputy Leader of the Council expressed enthusiasm about the project’s progress, stating: “The response we’ve had so far from traders and local residents has been overwhelmingly positive, so it is important that we take time to ensure we get that right mix of businesses within the market to maximise the economic benefits for the town.”

He continued, “We have listened carefully to the feedback from the potential traders as well as our market operator and we fully agree that an opening date in January will be the sensible option. Our timeframes were ambitious to deliver this exciting new development, but it is important that we get everything right and launch the best market possible”.

Councillor Pritchard concluded, “It’s great to see so much interest in Ffos Caerffili and we look forward to visitors to the town being able to access a diverse and popular mix of businesses operating from this new flagship market site.”
