Margam Country Park is offering people the chance to “get up close and personal” to one of Britain’s most exciting autumn wildlife spectacles by offering exclusive, Land Rover based “ Autumn Deer Rut Safaris”.

The safaris will offer the chance of a fascinating, close-up encounter with deer at their most active time, the parkland providing an ideal location for seeing stags and bucks compete with each other for the attention of the females.

The safaris will give guests the chance to follow the action as it unfolds – with the opportunity to take some unforgettable photos and video footage.

The autumnal parkland can act as camouflage for the russet-coloured coats of the red deer, but their rutting routine is hard to miss as long as you’re in the right place – the new Rut Safaris giving people a chance see the sights, hear the sounds and smell the Autumn!

The safaris will allow guests views of Red, Fallow and the lesser known Pere David Deer- the three deer species which live in the Park.

The Land Rover safaris will be led by John Crannage. John has worked in the Park for many years – his enthusiasm for and knowledge of the park’s deer is second to none and he is also able to adapt the tours to cater for specific interests guests may have.

    Details:
Safari Dates available :  Sunday 30th September, Tuesday 2nd October, Thursday 4th October, Sat 6th October, Sun 7th October, Wed 10th October, Sat 13th October, Sun 14th October 2018.

Price: £30 per person (to be paid on booking). Maximum of four guests per safari.

The safari will be primarily in the Park’s Land Rover – however  options for a short walk within the safari are also possible.

Guests should be able to step up into the Land Rover. Appropriate clothing and footwear is recommended. Cameras and binoculars are recommended but not essential.

Arrive for 6.15 am at the Orangery Car Park to be met by John and a  transfer to Land Rover. The safari will start promptly at 6.30am and will be 2 hours 30 mins with a break mid safari for an early morning al fresco coffee and Welsh Cake.

The safaris will take place whatever the weather. To book or for further details please phone 01639 881635.
