Carlos Indjai has bene jailed for possession with intent to supply cocaine.

Indjai 30 from Pentwyn was spotted acting suspiciously by officers driving through Roath, Cardiff, when soon afterwards he stopped to meet someone by the Church on St Andrews Crescent in the city centre, in what looked like a drug deal.

Officers followed him to Sainsburys on Colchester Avenue where he stopped for petrol. He was detained and searches found three deals of cocaine and incriminating messages on his phone. A subsequent search of his house found a further 27 deals of cocaine inside a shoe box in his bedroom.

    Detective Constable Gareth Brien said:

“Despite substantial evidence, Indjai continued to profess his innocence throughout the investigation, stating, “it was for my own consumption”.

When questioned about the cocaine in his bedroom he began saying that he had just bought the trainers from someone and had no knowledge of the cocaine being in the box with them.

It was then highlighted to him that at no point had his solicitor, him or anyone else had been notified that the cocaine was in fact found in a shoebox, so how could he have known where it was found?

He maintained that he had no knowledge of the drugs and all the circumstances leading up to the arrest. Including the two suspected drug deals, the cocaine in the car, the cocaine in his house, the messages on his phone instructing him to take drugs to the church and when he was seen with a man getting out of the car at a church. He dismissed this all as coincidence, the jury disagreed.”

After a four-day trial at Cardiff Crown Court, the jury found him unanimously guilty, and he has since been sentenced to three years in jail.
