A property owned by Caerphilly County Borough Council has been served with a Closure Order, following persistent incidents of nuisance and anti-social behaviour.

The application for the Order was successfully submitted by the Council’s Caerphilly Homes Anti-Social Behaviour Team.  The property had been the focus for nuisance and anti-social behaviour for a considerable period, with a number of residents contacting the team for help to address the issues.

Complaints were received regarding unacceptable noise for extended periods and at unsociable hours, fighting inside the property with associated arguments spilling out into shared public space outside.

The Closure Order means that, whilst the current resident can remain, only one named family member may visit the property for an initial period of 3 months.  Those who attend in breach of the Order are liable to be arrested, with the possibility of a fine, a period of 51 weeks in imprisonment or both.

Cllr Shayne Cook, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, said “The occurrences at this property were having a significant impact on other residents and their families, including disturbed sleep and being fearful.  As well as offering reassurance to neighbouring households, we also hope this acts a warning to others that behaviour such as those experienced at this property will not be tolerated.”

Residents experiencing persistent or severe incidents of anti-social behaviour or neighbour nuisance please contact Caerphilly Homes Anti-Social Behaviour Team on 01443 811440 or email on [email protected].
