A company that aims to be one stop shop for customers seeking CCTV, access control, networking and electrical expertise was named Micro Business of the Year at the Powys Business Awards.

AL Technical, which is based at Cefn Mawr, Newtown, collected the award, sponsored by the Cambrian News and Brecon & Radnor Express, at the annual awards dinner held at The Hafren, Newtown.

The company is run by managing director Aled Llewelyn Woosnam who heads a team of seven, including two apprentices. “I am overwhelmed by this award which is a reward for all the hard work by the team,” he said.

“Our business goals are constantly moving and this award means that we are achieving them. Looking to the future, we will be aiming for more growth as a team.”

Specialising in state-of-the-art solutions for CCTV systems, networking, access control and electrical installations, AL Technical was launched in 2016 and has built its annual turnover.

Approved National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting (NICEIC) contractors, AL Technical carries out installations in domestic, commercial, industrial and agricultural settings.

“We have a fast growth rate which helps us keep up to date with the latest technology to meet customer demand,” said Aled. “We cover technical electrical needs all under one roof so there is only one point of contact.

“Our concept is being the one stop shop for clients covering all aspects, CCTV, access control, networking and electrical. 2018 has seen the introduction of our own hosted Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone system which goes hand in hand with our broadband services.”

The Powys Business Awards judges said:

“This fast-growing company has an excellent understanding of new technologies and how they can be used in local businesses in Powys to give the best support in a rural community.

“The company has continued to develop from a single owner operator to now employing seven further employees, two of which are following Apprenticeship Programmes. The turnover and profit have been developed over the three years of operating.

“The company is now moving into Voice over Internet Protocol technologies and can see some exciting prospects in this addition market.”
