Eligible private households in the Caerphilly borough can now apply for grants to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.

Caerphilly County Borough Council is encouraging residents whose homes have solid fuel (coal) fires, back boilers or single glazed windows to apply for help to make their home warmer.

To be eligible for an energy crisis grant:

    • Applicants must be an owner occupier or private sector contract holder (tenant), living in the property for at least 12 months.
    • Has a household combined gross income of £31,000 or less, or
    • A person in the property is vulnerable to the effects of living in a cold property.
    • Homes must be considered energy inefficient (the Council is able to assess this for residents).
    • Privately rented properties must be compliant with all current regulations (an energy rating of D or E).
    • Any measure installed within the property must be of a value that can be proven to improve the energy rating of the property.
    • The property must have been occupied by the applicant for a period of no less than 1 year.

For more information and to check eligibility contact the Council’s Private Sector Housing team on 01443 811378 or email [email protected]

This project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
