Dog Furiendly, a digital community and event service for dog owners, has been awarded a Highly Commended award at the Animal Star Awards. The Animal Star Award winners were announced at a prestigious awards ceremony on Saturday 3rd November in Guildford.

The Animal Star Awards gives recognition to animals and humans alike for the extraordinary things they do for each other. With 14 categories awarding charities, vets, rescues, assistance animals, people in the pet industry and bloggers.

Dog Furiendly is an all-new and interactive website for dog owners in Wales. The website is an authentic platform for listing pubs, cafés, restaurants, shops, visitor attractions and events across Wales, which allow dogs on their premises.

An estimated 420,000 dog owners across Wales will benefit from this new online platform.

Founder of Dog Furiendly Adele Pember from Cwmbran said:

“We are delighted to have won Highly Commended for the Best Pet Related Business category of these prestigious awards.

“We started Dog Furiendly because of our own struggles of finding places to take the dog. Knowing that we’re now helping thousands of dog owners find new adventures every week is a dream.

“To be recognised in these Awards reinforces our vision of making the UK a more Dog Furiendly place.”

The Animal Star Awards are organised by founder Mary Burgess, an animal lover who wanted to create a new awards brand to recognise animals and people whose lives wouldn’t be the same without them.

    Mary Burgess said:

“I’m so pleased that so many people travelled and made a special effort to come to the awards – it was a fantastic night. Next year, I hope the event will be bigger and better, with sponsors for each category and a ceremony in the North and the South.

“Our pets are our world and there are so many people doing fantastic things to support animals all over the world which we need to celebrate.”

The star-studded event was at the Mandolay Hotel and brought together entrepreneurs and pet owners with TV personalities like CBeebies vet Rory Cowlam and animal welfare campaigner Peter Egan.
