A NORTH Wales based housebuilder has bolstered its leadership team with the appointment of a new land director.

Mathew Tudor Owen steps into the role at Anwyl Homes’ Cheshire and North Wales division, based in Ewloe, Flintshire.

Mathew, who has been with Anwyl since 2017, has been promoted from his previous position as senior land manager. In his new role, he will lead the land and planning team to deliver the company’s business plan and identify sites to support the continued growth of operations across Cheshire and North Wales.

A Geography graduate, Mathew began his career in the housebuilding industry in 2012 on Redrow’s graduate scheme, later progressing to land manager before joining Anwyl. With more than a decade of experience in the sector, he will lead the department responsible for land acquisition, planning and development strategy.

Mathew said: “I’m excited to take on a new challenge and continue to help drive Anwyl’s growth. We have ambitious plans for the business and a great team in place to deliver them. Anwyl’s family ethos and open culture really sets it apart.”

Looking ahead, Mathew’s focus will be on delivering the business’s land targets and navigating the evolving planning and political landscape. “Planning remains one of the biggest challenges facing the sector,” he added. “However, with the right strategy and teamwork, I’m confident we’ll continue to secure great sites and build on our strong pipeline.”

Originally from Wrexham, where he still lives, Mathew is proud to be part of a North Wales-based family business with strong local roots. Away from work, the dad-of-one is also a keen golfer.

Mark Calvert, managing director for Anwyl Homes Cheshire and North Wales, said: “Mathew’s promotion is very well deserved. Since joining us eight years ago, he has played a key role in our land strategy and has been instrumental in helping us expand into new areas. His in-depth market knowledge and strong relationships make him a valuable asset to the business and I’m confident he’ll continue to drive our growth ambitions forward in his new role.”
