All entries into the 2026 Barry Island 10K are now sold out with just three weeks to go until race day.

The sold-out event will incorporate the Welsh music and culture festival, Gŵyl Fach y Fro, which is extending across the Saturday and the Sunday for the first time.

Organised by Menter Iaith Bro Morgannwg, the festival will feature food and craft stalls, children’s activities, and live performances from leading Welsh artists and local talent.

On race day there will also be literary workshops, sessions for new Welsh speakers as well as art activities for children.

While entries into the 10K race have all been snapped up, there are still a number of spaces left in the Family Fun Run, Future Challenges races and Toddler Dash. Those who would like to take part have until Sunday 10 May to register.

This year the Barry Island 10K takes place on Sunday 17 May. Set in the popular seaside resort, the event has become a favourite in the Run 4 Wales running calendar and is the second event in the R4W 10K Series.

Including the town’s most scenic seaside spots including Whitmore Bay, the Knapp, Romilly Park and Watch House Bay, the race always brings a feel-good atmosphere with unbeatable crowd support.

Rachel Madge, Event Manager of the Barry Island 10K, said: “We’re really looking forward to returning to Barry Island for our 10K event with the exciting addition of Gŵyl Fach y Fro. This will be our biggest event yet with more than 4,600 participants registered to take part across all distances.

“As always expect a great atmosphere around the course and at the finish line and it will be a great day out for the whole family with lots to do in the event village and surrounding area.”

Entries are still open for the remaining two 10Ks in the R4W 10K Series – the Brecon Carreg Porthcawl 10K on Sunday 5 July and the CDF 10K on Sunday 6 September.

For those who are interested in a fun-filled trail running event, the Rabbit Run Wales is on Saturday 18 July.
