Valleys to Coast Group has appointed James O’Connor as its new Executive Director of Finance and Transformation.

James joins from Codi Group, where he was Director of Corporate Finance and Sustainability.

In his new role he will oversee the group’s financial strategy and lead a transformation agenda, focusing on building financial strength, modernising systems and ensuring resources are used effectively to enable reinvestment in Valleys to Coast’s homes and communities.

The appointment coincides with the launch of the group’s Corporate Plan 2026–2031, which sets out a strategy to move from traditional ways of working to data-driven practices. The group is also expanding across South Wales and launching a new development subsidiary, Sylfaen.

Valleys to Coast Group is preparing to move to a new office at Wyndham House in Bridgend town centre.

Joanne Oak, Group Chief Executive, said: “We are thrilled to welcome James to our team. We are entering a transformative chapter as we roll out our new Corporate Plan. James brings experience, energy, and fresh thinking that will help us build our financial strength.”

James O’Connor said: “I am delighted to be joining Valleys to Coast Group at such an exciting time. Their ambition has a clear, heartfelt commitment to making a positive difference in people’s lives and communities.”

Valleys to Coast Group provides more than 6,000 affordable homes across Bridgend and Rhondda Cynon Taf, alongside commercial properties and leasehold flats. It was established in 2003 as the first large-scale voluntary transfer of council-owned homes to a social housing association in Wales.
