Wales’ largest building society will fundraise for young person’s cancer charity Teenage Cancer Trust Cymru, and dementia support and research charity Alzheimer’s Society Cymru until the end of 2021.
Teenage Cancer Trust Cymru provides life-changing care and cancer support to young people in Wales and across the UK. Latest figures show that seven young people are diagnosed with cancer in the UK each day.
Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading dementia charity caring for people affected by any form of dementia across Wales, England and Northern Ireland.
Colleagues at Principality’s 53 branches and 17 agencies will take on a range of challenges over the next three years to raise vital funds for them. In the past this has included mountain treks, half marathons, cycle event and bucket collections at Principality Stadium.

“We look forward to raising more important funds for our two new charities which we hope will help them to provide vital support for people who need it.”
Teenage Cancer Trust Cymru works closely with young people across Wales who have cancer to provide world-class cancer services.
Debbie Jones, Teenage Cancer Trust regional fundraising manager, south Wales, said: “At Teenage Cancer Trust Cymru, we’re delighted to be have been chosen as a charity partner of the Principality Building Society for the next three years.
“Our partnership will help us raise awareness of our vital services in Wales to make sure no young person faces cancer alone. The money raised by Principality Building Society staff and Members will go towards funding our clinical nurse specialists across the communities of Wales, so that young people with cancer have access to our life-changing care in their local hospital, at home or wherever they live.”
Alzheimer’s Society directly improves the lives of people with dementia and is the only UK charity which invests in research into dementia care, cause, cure and prevention. They have committed to spending £150m on cutting-edge research over the next ten years.

Over the past three years, Principality Building Society raised £500,000 for three Welsh causes: homelessness charity Llamau, Cancer Research Wales, and School of Hard Knocks which uses sport to help disadvantaged people.
