Two major events have been organised in south and north Wales where businesses can come along and meet rail bosses to find out how they can be involved.

Taking place in Swansea’s National Waterfront Museum on 6 June and in Venue Cymru in Llandudno on 13 June, the events are being run with support from Business Wales who can offer practical advice and support on bidding for key contracts.

Transport for Wales Rail Services manage 247 stations across Wales and England and are committed to improving every single one of them in the coming years.

Clare James, Head of Procurement for Transport for Wales Rail Services, said: “We’re incredibly excited to be meeting with small and medium sized businesses across the communities we serve. Their expertise and specialist skills will prove invaluable as we start our major station improvement programme. And by investing with local companies, we know we will be giving back to our local communities, something we recognise is incredibly important. So I’d strongly encourage as many businesses as possible to come along to meet us.”

Businesses can register up to two days prior to the events here

The initial works will likely include supply, installation and refurbishment of:

    • CCTV
    • Waiting room – refurbishment
    • Shelters
    • CIS (Customer Information Screens)
    • Cycle storage – including integration with CCTV and other services
    • Lining of car parks
    • Seating
    • Rebranding
    • Signage
    • Handrail
    • Stair nose edging
    • Induction loop
    • Painting
    • Car park lighting
    • Palisade fencing

Howard Jacobson, Tendering Adviser at Business Wales, commented: “Business Wales have a plan in place to advise and help businesses all over Wales to become tender-ready and be able to take advantage of the exciting opportunities that the Transport for Wales project offers.

“We are delighted to support these Meet the Buyer events as we believe they provide an excellent opportunity for Welsh SMEs to hear first-hand about the many tendering opportunities available as well as the fully-funded support and workshops they can access through Business Wales.”

There will be small group sessions available with TFW Rail Services, TfW, Business Wales, Supplier Champion, Social Business Wales and Sell 2 Wales.
