The inaugural Wales Transport Awards 2019 has launched its search to recognise the industry’s outstanding contributors in Wales. This comes at a time when Wales’ transport infrastructure is high on both the government’s and the public’s agenda.

The awards, co-founded by Liz Brookes from Grapevine Event Management, will celebrate the best of the Welsh transport sector and will take place Friday November 1st at Holland House Hotel, Cardiff.

[aoa id=”1″]With plans for the government to invest millions of pounds in streamlining Wales’ Transport systems, the industry is thriving and is an integral part of Wales’ economy, employing over 40,000 people. The awards scheme, in its first year, has been created to reward the variety of industries, businesses and individuals that keep our country moving. Wales’ transport network is bursting with talent who collectively run and manage our logistics, recovery, haulage and public transport systems.[/aoa]

The Secretary of State for Wales Alun Cairns, said:

“By removing the Severn Tolls, the UK Government has enabled unrestricted movement across the border, allowing the Welsh transport sector to flourish like never before. Employing over 40,000 people, thriving Welsh transport companies keep the country moving and provide an important boost to the economy.

“These awards provide the perfect opportunity to highlight their outstanding work and recognise those who have gone above and beyond. I look forward to seeing the full list of nominees and wish all the hopeful businesses the very best of luck.”

There are 13 award categories in total that span a number of service areas from customer care, excellence in technology, fleet of the year and recognition of businesses that have gone above and beyond in being environmentally responsible. The full list of eligible categories can be found on the website.

We are proud to be working with a number high calibre sponsors who are supporting the Wales Transport Awards in its very first launch. Commercial vehicle specialists, Glenside Commercials, Telematic systems leader, Plant i and public transport service, Travel Line Cymru are all sponsoring award categories. Leading news platform, Business News Wales is the awards’ media sponsor. Also joining our team of sponsors are global lubricants manufacturer, Petronas and digital branding agency, Bluegg. Headline sponsor Caldicot Group, is one of the country’s leading vehicle recovery agencies.

Gavin Edwards, Managing Director, Caldicot Group says:

“We are very proud to be sponsoring the inaugural Wales Transport Awards. Working within the sector supporting companies with their vehicle recovery needs, we know first-hand the tremendous contributions they make that are pivotal to the success of so many other businesses. We are looking forward to recognising all of their efforts at the awards in November.”

The awards are simple to enter and the company’s main base must reside within Wales and should have been trading for a minimum of 12 months since January 2017. Once the initial applications have been received, shortlisted entrants from each category will be invited for a short interview with our judges.

Denise Lovering, Head Judge and Former Chair of the Welsh Freight Council, says:

“I am delighted to be asked to be Head Judge for the Wales Transport Awards. Having worked in transport for over 25 years, it is clear to me that this sector, which contributes so much to the economy of Wales, is often overlooked and the work done by logistics as a whole, seriously under rated. It will be good to recognise their achievements and celebrate with the transport sector in Wales”.

“If you are a business that strives to be the best and falls within our categories then join us in honouring the people who make a difference to Wales’ transport industry.”

The shortlist of entrants will be announced in September and winners will be announced at the gala celebration dinner on November 1st.
