The new store will bring a number of job opportunities to the area and offer more customers access to Aldi’s high quality, low-price products. The retailer aims to have 1,200 stores by 2025 and is committed to further improving its existing stores for its customers across the country.

Aldi Gabalfa will offer, large chillers and freezers dedicated to fresh, British meat products, a ‘Food to Go’ section at the front of the store, a new fixture along the back wall, showcasing Aldi’s award winning Beers, Wines and Spirits, and an exclusive section full of award-winning Health & Beauty products.

Customers can expect to find Aldi’s Specially Selected range, weekly fresh meat offers and famous Super 6 fruit and vegetables at the new store. Aldi’s legendary Specialbuys will also be available every Thursday and Sunday, offering extraordinary value on a wide range of products, from electrical items to garden tools.

To celebrate the store opening, Joe Scanlon and his team will be joined by Olympic silver medalist, Sam Cross, to cut the all-important ribbon on opening morning. The visit comes as part of Aldi’s partnership with Team GB to help children to develop their understanding and love of fresh and healthy food.

Store Manager, Joe Scanlon, said: “We’re really looking forward to opening our new store in Cardiff, the team and I are working hard behind the scenes to get everything ready for the big day. It will be fantastic to have Sam with us too, posing for photos and giving out bags of free fruit and vegetables to our new customers.”

Rugby Sevens star, Sam Cross, added: “I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store in Cardiff. It will be a great way for me to give back to the local community and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its endless support of Team GB.”

The new store will be located on Batchelor Road, Excelsior Industrial Estate, Cardiff, CF14 3AX, and will be open: Monday – Saturday: 8.00am – 10.00pm, Sunday: 10.00am – 4.00pm.
