Swansea’s Singleton Park will host 20,000 music fans next summer when rockers Catfish and the Bottlemen take to the stage.

The global stars will headline a day also featuring rock/pop-punk four-piece You Me At Six, Welsh indie-rockers Feeder and dark pop-rock band Yonaka.

Swansea Council, which manages the park, will build the music site on behalf of the promoter as they have done with previous gigs there.

Tracey McNulty, the council’s head of cultural services, said: “This event is great news for Swansea.

“Singleton Park has hosted some great music occasions in recent years with the likes of the Stereophonics, Jess Glynne, Pete Tong and the BBC Biggest Weekend which included – among many other big names – Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.

“Swansea’s Catfish and the Bottlemen event will be a very welcome addition to next year’s programme in the park.”

The city’s other major summer events include the Wales Airshow and Swansea Half Marathon.

Stars like Rod Stewart, Elton John, Little Mix and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have performed in Swansea in recent years.

Four-piece Catfish and the Bottlemen will play Singleton Park, Swansea, on Saturday, May 23.

This will be the band’s biggest Welsh show to date and their only show in Wales in 2020. In the past 18 months they have enjoyed sell-out shows at Cardiff Castle and Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena.

Originating on the North Wales coast, alt rockers Catfish and the Bottlemen have toured heavily since 2014. This year has seen them tour the United States, Australia, mainland Europe and the UK.

Their first album The Balcony achieved platinum status in the UK. Their acclaimed third album The Balance was released this summer. The band has amassed a billion streams.

Singleton Park tickets go on general sale from 10am on December 6 from alttickets.com and ticketmaster.co.uk.
