Cardiff’s leading entertainment venue, The Red Dragon Centre will be celebrating this year’s Chinese New Year with a joyous afternoon of free, traditional Chinese New Year activities.

To mark the Year of the Rat, The Red Dragon Centre has teamed up with the Cardiff Confucius Institute to host a prosperous day that includes several free workshops including lantern making, paper cutting and calligraphy.

Visitors will also have the chance to meet a traditional Chinese Lion who will celebrate with passers-by at the centre at 12.30pm, 2pm and 3.30pm.

The Oriental Garden will also be on hand to offer visitors the full Chinese New Year feast experience with their oriental buffet.

Peng Lin from Cardiff Confucius Institute said: “Everyone knows that Chinese New Year is a big, traditional celebration and this is a great opportunity for people to find out a little bit more about what it entails and join in the festivities for themselves.”

Emma Constantinou, Marketing and Tenant Liaison Manager of the Red Dragon Centre, said: “Chinese New Year is wonderful time of the year that is celebrated around the world and we’re looking forward to bringing the colourful, enjoyable celebrations to Cardiff with our day of activities.”

The workshops will be held on Sunday 26 January 2020 between 12-4pm.

The Cardiff Confucius Institute helps share Chinese culture and language in Wales, as well as supporting collaboration between Wales and China.
