Principality Building Society has joined Stonewall Cymru’s Diversity Champions programme, to reinforce its commitment to being an LGBT+ inclusive business.

The Diversity Champions programme, developed by the UK’s leading LGBT charity Stonewall, aims to support employers in ensuring all LGBT colleagues, customers, clients and service-users are accepted without exception. The programme provides expert advice, support and training to ensure best practice in the workplace.

Stonewall Cymru is working with the Society to look at its policies, practices, staff training and community engagement so that LGBT equality is embedded throughout the organisation.

Since becoming a Diversity Champion, the Society has worked with Stonewall to ensure its recruitment policy is inclusive for all. Principality also recently hosted the Stonewall Role Model programme and invited employers across Wales to join the course, which promotes the importance of LGBT role models in the workplace.

Iain Mansfield, Chief Operating Officer at Principality Building Society, and Executive Sponsor of its LGBT+ Committee said:

“We’re delighted to be working with Stonewall Cymru on the Diversity Champions programme for employers. Being a part of this network has been a rewarding experience for all colleagues involved. As a Society we’re committed to ensuring our colleagues, Members and service-users feel represented and accepted. Joining Stonewall’s programme has provided us with the tools and tailored support to develop on this best practice.”

Katie Fox, Programmes Officer at Stonewall Cymru, said:

“Stonewall Cymru is so excited to be working with Principality Building Society through our Diversity Champions programme. Over the next 12 months and beyond we will be working together to ensure that LGBT equality is embedded in to all aspects of Principality Building Society.”
