Motorists travelling between Raglan and Abergavenny are being advised to plan ahead as essential bridge refurbishment works are carried out on the A40.

The work will involve repairs to the deck of the A40 Pitt Village Overbridge, located between Raglan Roundabout and Hardwick Roundabout.

The works are scheduled to take place from August 20 to 22, August 24 to 29, and September 2 to 8.

Diversion routes will be in place while the work is carried out, with drivers advised to allow extra time for their journeys.

A40 eastbound traffic reaching Hardwick Roundabout will be diverted south-east along the main strategic diversion route. Drivers should follow the existing symbol signage on gantries and advance direction signs before being directed north-east to rejoin the A40 at Raglan Roundabout.

Westbound traffic arriving at Raglan Roundabout will be diverted north-west along the designated route before being directed south-west to rejoin the A40 at Hardwick Roundabout.

Local traffic will be diverted using the B4598 and surrounding roads.

Eastbound local traffic will travel south and then east before turning north to rejoin the A40 near Raglan. Westbound vehicles will travel north and then west before turning south to rejoin the road at Hardwick Roundabout.

Motorists are being asked to plan their journeys in advance and remain patient while the essential work is completed.

Further details are available on the Traffic Wales website.
