Aberglasney has announced the launch of its first ever Gin, produced in collaboration with the Gower Gin Company. Botanicals from around the gardens have been used to create a new smooth and aromatic Aberglasney gin.
Aromatic rosemary, thyme and majoram bring a savoury depth to the Aberglasney ‘Gaeaf’ gin while fennel adds warmth, pine tips give a hint of crisp woodland freshness and rosehips give the gin a bright fruity finish.
Helen Scutt, Aberglasney Gardens’ Director came up with the idea to have an unique gin using ingredients from the gardens. Helen said, “When I met Andrew and Sian from the Gower Gin Company at a recent event held at the gardens I floated the idea of a collaboration to create an Aberglasney Gin and I was absolutely delighted when they agreed to work with us on this exciting project. We have foraged for the ingredients together around the gardens and worked on a tester which the Trustees and staff have tasted to make sure it is perfect! We are delighted to be able to launch the new gin at the Winter Fair in December and offer our visitors a treat in tasting the gin.”
Aberglasney ‘Gaeaf’ Gin captures the essence of winter and will be launched at the Winter Fair event on the 5, 6 and 7 December. Lucky visitors will be treated to tasters of the new festive spirit which will be available to purchase in the gardens giftshop in both 70cl and 20cl bottles.
Aberglasney intends producing a gin for each season of the year, with the first being ‘Gaeaf’, the Welsh word for winter.
Aberglasney Winter Fair, the ultimate festive event, will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday the 5, 6 and 7 December from 10am until 4.30pm. Entrance will be £10 per adult with no separate entrance fee to the Gardens. Aberglasney members are admitted to the Winter Fair free of charge as part of their annual membership package and children under 17 are also free of charge. All visitors will be treated to a free glass of mulled wine and a warm mince pie.
