South Wales Police is investigating a road traffic collision, which occurred shortly after 10.45pm Saturday night (28th September 2019) outside the Civic Centre on Avenue De Clichy, Merthyr Tydfil.

The incident involved a small black car which collided with an 18 year-old man who was crossing the road with a group of friends.

The man was taken to Prince Charles Hospital where he is being treated to life-changing injuries.

A 19 year-old man from Ebbw Vales has been arrested in connection with this incident and is currently at Merthyr Tydfil police station.

Officers wish to thank members of the public who assisted at scene and for their patience during the road closures.

Officers investigating the incident want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision.   Anyone with any information or any dash-cam footage is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101 and quote reference number 1900359704.
