A man from Neath Port Talbot has been jailed after he attacked a father and son who were unknown to him in their own front garden. 34-year-old Robin Griffiths, from Resolven, left the adult victim with an orbital bone fracture and restricted eye movement as a result of the attack, and requiring an operation. Griffiths then struck the victim’s son as he tried to intervene in the assault. Griffiths pleaded guilty to assault by beating and wounding/inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent in September. He has been sentenced to 20 months in prison. A man from Neath Port Talbot has been jailed after being found guilty of the rape and sexual assault of three child victims. 32-year-old Joshua Jones, from Cwmavon, pleaded not guilty to all charges put to him. After trial at Swansea Crown Court, Jones was found guilty of rape of a boy under 13, five counts of assault of a boy under 13 by touching, and causing a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity. Plans to protect the future Swansea Marina’s much-loved Helwick lightship have been unveiled by Swansea Council. Cabinet has agreed to spend around £450,000 to restore the striking red and white vessel moored in the marina so it can be protected and enjoyed by future generations. The aim is for Helwick to be restored at the local dry dock in Swansea where it will be repaired and returned to the marina. Newport is becoming a cleaner and greener city, according to a new report outlining Newport City Council’s progress towards becoming a carbon-neutral organisation by 2030.
