Drivers are advised of overnight closures on the A48 this week for essential safety improvements. The road will be closed each night from Monday 20 October to Friday 24 October, between 8pm and 6am. More than 60 illegal e-bikes and e-scooters have been seized in one day across Cardiff and Barry making the streets safer. Among them was a modified mountain bike capable of reaching 90 miles per hour – the fastest ever that has been seized in a joint operation between South Wales Police and Cardiff Council. This bike was one of 11 seized in Ely and Fairwater 12 in the city centre, and another 17 in Cardiff Bay last Thursday (October 16). More were seized in Roath, Cathays, Rumney, St Mellons and Barry. A Milford Haven man who has repeatedly refused to clear piles of waste from his home has admitted breaching a court order. Pembrokeshire County Council prosecuted Gavin James after requests to remove accumulated waste and rubbish at the property were again ignored. James had failed to appear for a previous court hearing and was arrested following the issue of a no bail warrant and appeared before Haverfordwest Magistrate’s Court on 30 September when the case was adjourned for a probation report to be prepared. Narberth Library is celebrating a very successful first year in its fantastic, purpose-built new home in the town. Having opened in the bright, airy and welcoming space at the Town Moor site in September 2024, the library has attracted 361 new members and become an important hub for events and local community groups.
