An animated film created from the medium of sand is hoping to scoop an award at the upcoming Welsh BAFTAs. Inner Polar Bear, a parable on the dangers of global warming, was created by Cardiff- based artist Gerald Conn and has been nominated in the Best Short Film category at the gala event in October. Green Man, Wales’ largest music, science and arts festival, has sold all of its tickets for the 2024 festival in just over two hours, breaking its record sales last year. Now in its 22nd year, it is the first 2024 UK festival to have sold out in record time, without releasing its line-up. A pre-inquest review hearing (PIR) regarding the death of Dylan Cope will be held at Gwent Coroner’s Court, Civic Centre, Newport, NP20 4UR on Wednesday, 4 October at 2pm. Nine-year-old Dylan died on 14 December 2022 after being diagnosed with a ruptured appendix and sepsis. Dylan attended A&E at Grange University Hospital, Cwmbran, on 6 December on referral of his GP for suspected appendicitis. He was treated with Ibuprofen and discharged at 1.15am on 7 December with a cough and cold advice sheet. A new contractor has been appointed to complete unfinished work at Swansea’s Copr Bay district. Swansea Council’s appointment of Willmott Dixon follows the original contactor for the scheme – Buckingham Group Ltd – going into administration. The financial arrangements put in place by the council means it’s not envisaged there will be any extra costs to the authority or council taxpayers.
