Installed back in September 2021, the one-way system in Hereford Street, Presteigne was introduced to help ease congestion and make it easier for pedestrians and cyclists to access local amenities. Upon conclusion of the trial period, all comments from the community were considered as part of a full review and it was clear the one-way system had been an overwhelming success and agreed to be adopted permanently. Some minor amendments to the infrastructure will be made to improve road safety and discourage drivers unfamiliar with the road layout from inadvertently going the wrong way. The Celtic Freeport in Milford Haven and Port Talbot and Anglesey Freeport on Ynys Mon have been chosen as Wales’ first freeports, helping to create tens of thousands of new jobs in the green industries of the future, the Welsh and UK Governments announced today. In May 2022, the Welsh Government reached an agreement with the UK Government to establish a freeport programme in Wales. Climate Change Minister Julie James has today published the Welsh Government’s detailed response to the Law Commission’s report on Regulating Coal Tip Safety in Wales In 2020, the Welsh Ministers asked the Law Commission for England and Wales to undertake a detailed review of the current legislation relating to coal tip safety in Wales. An ex-logistics manager, who has Parkinson’s, is planning to undertake a 12 hour croquet marathon. Gareth Blake, from Cardigan, is taking on the challenge to raise awareness of the condition on World Parkinson’s Day on April 11. The 53-year-old, who is originally from Holyhead, on Anglesey, and is a member of Parkinson’s UK Cymru’s Emlyn and Tivyside Parkinson’s group, said had to give up his career after he was diagnosed with the condition. Young people from Aberaeron Youth Club have kindly raised money for Angharad Children’s Ward in Bronglais Hospital. Cara Jones, Ceredigion Youth Worker said: “The young people who attend Youth Club decided that they wanted to raise money for a local cause. It was decided by the young people that this years proceeds would be donated to Angharad Children’s Ward. Money was raised by designing their own Christmas cards, pebble art and hot chocolate cones.
