The Specsavers Clwyd and Snowdonia Home Visits team, which provides essential eye care to people in their own homes, welcomed almost 50 attendees to the Halkyn Cricket Club, Holywell for an evening of fundraising. Welsh businesses and employees are urged to get behind efforts to remove barriers to women’s careers and improve workplace gender equity, by taking part in a new CBI-University of South Wales survey. The bi-annual CBI-USW Leadership Landscape Survey collates evidence from firms and workers across Wales to gain a better understanding of the challenges that face many women in achieving their career goals. Fire crews from across South Wales are currently responding to an incident involving a bulk carrier at Newport Docks. At 05:38 this morning, South Wales Fire and Rescue Service arrived at the scene of a fire on board the vessel Nord Houston, which was docked at the port and carrying approximately 1,000 tonnes of scrap metal. A man has been arrested after police stopped a suspicious lorry on the M4 using pre-emptive tactics. Officers from Gwent Police said the vehicle was intercepted on Thursday following intelligence shared by West Midlands Police. Checks carried out at the scene revealed the driver was only a provisional licence holder and was not insured to drive the lorry. Further inspection of the vehicle uncovered additional concerns. A section of the M4 motorway has been temporarily closed westbound near Junction 24 (Coldra) following a vehicle fire this afternoon (April 24). Traffic Wales confirmed the incident occurred at around 3:35pm, with emergency services currently en route to the scene. The westbound carriageway has been closed to allow for recovery and to ensure the safety of those involved, as well as attending crews.
