A brand new riverside walkway for pedestrians and cyclists is set to be developed as part of multi million transport investment in Swansea. The Tawe riverside plans are part of a multi-million pound transport funding package which will help create new transport routes, improve road safety, improve public transport links as well as boost infrastructure for electric vehicles and develop flood prevention schemes on roads that regularly suffer from isolated flooding. £6.7million will be invested in Swansea in 2026/27 with further funding secured for the following two years. Cardiff Council has stepped up efforts to tackle waste and improve the appearance of neighbourhoods across the city. Waste Enforcement teams have been out across Cardiff, inspecting dumped rubbish, speaking with residents and offering advice on how to dispose of waste responsibly. As part of the latest activity, a total of 1,480kg of waste has been removed. The council has warned that where fly-tipping or other waste offences are identified, enforcement action will be taken where there is sufficient evidence to prosecute. New and growing businesses across Bridgend County Borough have created more than one hundred jobs over the last year with support from the council’s Business Start-up Fund. Since April 2025, the fund has supported local entrepreneurs to establish and expand their businesses, leading to the creation of over one hundred jobs across the county borough. The Business Start-up Fund provides capital grants of up to £4,000, covering up to 50 per cent of eligible project costs (excluding VAT). South Wales Police have launched an appeal to help find a missing woman from Bridgend. Lucy Jones, 40, was last seen at 3:35pm on Sunday, April 26 in the Brackla area, walking in the direction of Wildmill. She is described as being of slim build, with long dark hair. Jack, who is from Llanrumney, was last seen at around 6pm on Wednesday, April 22 on Newport Road, near Rumney Police Station. A man who stalked two young women has been jailed following a South Wales Police investigation. Zulfkar Ahmed, 67, of Grangetown, has been jailed for three years for two counts of stalking involving serious alarm/distress, and one count of breaching a stalking prevention order. Ahmed, who was jailed on April 15, had previously pleaded not guilty to the offences but was found guilty by a jury following a four day trial at Cardiff Crown Court on February 13. A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a 49-year-old man in Wrexham. North Wales Police confirmed that an investigation was launched after Linas Buta died with a head injury at a property on Bryn Glas in Rhos on Friday, 27 March. A 40-year-old man from the Essex area was arrested on Thursday, 23 April on suspicion of murder. He has since been released on bail while enquiries continue.
